My thing’s sound effects. Here’s a T-Rex, NNNRRRRWWWWR.
In case you don’t have a clue what I’m talking about, (a: how freakin’ young are you? and b:), here. TV commercials in the 90’s were just so much better.
And anyway, anybody that knows me knows my thing is yoga. Duh. It’s bordering on obsessive, the amount of influence yoga has on my entire life. How I spend my time, who I spend my time with, what books I read, what clothes I wear, what vacations I go on – it’s alllllll been influenced by my yoga practice. I’ve had several people I don’t even know approach me and ask, you’re that yoga girl, right?
After my kittacat (who I am also quite fanatical about), nothing gives me more joy than yoga. Wherever I am in the world, whatever issues are going on in my life, my yoga mat is there to make my day a little better. I absolutely, without a doubt, love my yoga practice.
Whatever you call it – a “thing”, a passion, an obsession – I think everyone should have something that they totally nerd-out over. Something that they get excited talking about. Something that is guaranteed to bring a smile to their face and a lil glow to their heart.
And if that “thing” is a little off-usual? Even better! Sometimes we try not to let it show how much we love something, because we’re afraid of how others will judge. It’s not cool to be so into _______, so we play down our passion to avoid seeming weird. Stop that! Have you ever met someone who just seems apathetic and doesn’t get excited about anything? They’re boring as heck! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – you do you, boo! Do your thing, wave your freak-fanatic-fangirl flag, shout your love out to the world.
“Nobody’s good at everything. Everybody’s good at something!” Find your something, and embrace it and celebrate it. Not everybody will get it, but who cares. Whatever makes you happy, sparks your interest, or ignites your passion. Do yo’ thing. Life’s too short to not be way-too-enthusiastic about the things you really care about.
I’m probably gonna go do some yoga now. Byeeeeeee
